“Life, a boat rowed facing back,
Past seen, future veiled in black.
Younger self guides, old self steers,
Yearning for what forward vision clears”.
– Duo Avenoir
Duo Avenoir is a newly formed chamber group consisting of two brothers, guitarist Matej Lacković and oboist Peter Lacković. Matej and Peter both enrolled in prestigious conservatories for their academic pursuits. Matej pursued his education at the prestigious Royal Conservatory in The Hague, whilst Peter enrolled at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
Aside from their own musical endeavors, there remained a constant desire to collaborate on music. The pair was formed in March 2024 and made their first public performance at Het Concertgebouw. Throughout this performance, the musicians performed pieces by Napoleon Coste and Piazzolla, along with an adaptation of Debussy’s “Clair de Lune” for English horn and guitar, adapted by Ramin Amin Tafreshi.
Although they formed their duo relatively recently, they have already achieved the highest distinction of winning first place in the 2024 “International Artist Competition”. In addition, they were just awarded the top place in the 2024 “Golden Classical Music Awards” International Competition. As a reward, they will be given the chance to showcase their talents in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, located in New York, for the upcoming program of October 2024.
The pair aims to examine the music specifically designed for these instruments and expand the range by actively encouraging composers to create compositions for this group. Future plans include the development of a CD exclusively showcasing music produced just for these two instruments.
Our mission, as a Duo Avenoir – is to bring together the distinctive qualities of the oboe and guitar, creating a musical experience that seamlessly combines melody and harmony.
